| saturday was the most awesome day of boarding ever! imagine it's pretty much almost spring, but there was lots of fresh powder for boarding. and the weather was perfect, too. it was sweet. so headed up to tahoe with anne and jose at about 4:30-5ish in the a.m. got to sierra about 7:30, then hit the slopes about 8:30. couldn't believe we were there so early. that was a first for all of us! we hella got to carve the snow first. so awesome. actually went down a couple black diamonds, too, this time. i think they were meant to be blues tho cuz they weren't too bad. anne and jose had some fun goin through the trees. i dunno if i could manage that. still trying to master carving. but we all tried jumps. and that was tight. jose caught some air, anne managed to land some, and i tried but wasn't successful. haha. i was able to handle a couple of the hills in the terrain park tho. that's all we're gonna do next time. practice jumps! yeah. if only not so many ppl were at the top watching and waiting their turn. so intimidating. but a whole full day of boarding...sweetest day ever. thanks again, you two, for takin me. | | |
| whew! one final down, one more to go. i swear this quarter has been a huge balancing act. work, school, group projects, and trying to spend time with family and friends. what i'm learning is that it can all be done. just managing time right. but i am really looking forward to my spring break. i'll be working, but just to have more free time for 2 weeks will be sweet! anyone wanna go out...hit me up!
these past weekends have been packed and fun. boarding weekends are always great, no matter how many bruises i get or how sore i am. =0p A couple of weekends ago was Cat & Raymond's housewarming and the Nyoy & Nina concert with the gals. so good to catch up with all the PASE folks. and so much fun at the concert...i think it was worth the tix $$. well, we made sure we got our money's worth. haha.
This past weekend had a board meeting for National Teen Leadership Program (NTLP). It's the org I volunteer for and we are celebrating our 15th anniversary this year. We had the honor of being presented with Senator Barbara Boxer's "Excellence in Education" award along with some other proclamations from city councils like Davis, Sacramento, and Elk Grove. It was an exciting time, and something long awaited for.
Spent the rest of the day in Sacramento with NTLPers and my bro. then met up later w/mike to study (thanx for the coffee =0) ). funny guy...likes to study sports illustrated articles than his human anatomy & physiology stuff. after that, we met up with fernan and headed out to empire. thank you both for takin me there. good times, good times. so mike = 1, julie = 1, fernan = 0. we gotta find him a dance partner next time. =0p
now off to work on my take home final. | | |
| Another awesome boarding weekend! this time it was girls' snowboarding trip. MAD PROPS to Anne for driving. =0) Got to use my new snow boots and they fit perfectly! Anne, Judy, and I got a good number of runs in Saturday. it was so nice to see sunshine and the view at the top of the mountain. just an awesome day. can't wait to go again. gotta tackle those jumps, girls! =0)
after boarding we headed back to folsom to stay at my friend's parents' place. perfect stopover cuz it's only about 1 1/2 hour distance from Sierra. Then we headed over to a japanese restaurant for dinner. good food, lots of laughs, and ended with sake bombs! I know you guys might not read this, but thank you so much Mike and Fernan for treating us girls to dinner. and thank you mike and parents for all the hospitality. the boy even cooked breakfast for the first time for us in the morning. go iron chef mike with the help of fernan on the phone givin him recipes. LOL....you guys crack me up. It really is refreshing being treated so nicely by a guy, and these two are first-class gentleman.
then we headed home, but before that we stopped over to get the orange frog washed and then stopped at sierra snowboard. anne got herself some new flows and i FINALLY got myself a board! yay! feels great to have my own gear now.
some icing on the cake....got my quantitative business methods midterm back in class tonite...98/100 baby! yeeeeeaaaahhhhhh!

| pretty busy week. got midterms comin up so studying for that. work is okay, but i keep on imagining myself in tahoe boarding instead. talk about ur daydreaming. anywhoo, friday nite was GNO (Girls Nite Out) with jan and anne. we met up at jan's house then headed out to DC for dinner. Thank you again, jannie, for the super duper dinner! that was a good deal for all that food we ordered. then we met up with some of jan's co-workers at P-T. pretty cool sportsbar/lounge place, gives me an idea for the living room area of my future home. another kick it spot, yay! jan, ur right. that 1/2 japanese bartender guy was HOT...if only he didn't have a "girlfriend", if ya know what i mean. so he comes over to get our drink orders and i was stunned. LOL. anyway, started off the nite with an apple long island. good SHIET...i don't know why it didn't seem strong to me when it did to everyone else, but boy did it hit me bad later on. so bad that i did something stupid...something i really regret and am embarassed about. stupid phone. hahahaa. but i think after doing that, "he's" out of my system. i think...LOL. all i know is that i'm gonna follow ur goal for this year, jannie: to have less or no drama this year if possible. and with that i'm laying this situation to rest; leaving it alone. gotta look forward and keep goin. thanks again, girls, for an awesome evening. hope we can go again soon. can't forget about a trip to tahoe, too! anyone wanna go board shopping with me next weekend? | | |
| Yesterday was the best day of snowboarding EVER!!!!! The five of us (Anne, Jose, Rey, Judy - anne's co-worker, and me) headed up to the snow around 5-ish. Had breakfast at Jack-in-the-crack...it was Judy's first time at one since she came from New Jersey. it was so cool to meet her. i swear, anne, ur right. you two are alike! but anyway, we got to northstar about 10-ish. the pros went up the mountain while judy and i took the bunny slopes. finally got the hang of slowing down, stopping, and turning. moved on from the bunny slopes to another beginner slope called Arrow right before lunch. a little longer trail, but not difficult. then met up with the pros (anne, jose, and rey..hehe) for lunch in the wonderful COLD outdoors. hahaha. it was fun tho. then afterwards we all headed up to the TOP of the mountain. for the pros, this was just some regular thing. but for me...shoot. i've never been that way up high before. i'm all thinking, it's not gonna be that high. thank you, anne, though for not telling me when we were way down at the bottom, cuz i would have freaked out on the way up if you did. turns out that i made it down the blue trail pretty ok. couple of spills, but that's just part of it. it was funny cuz when we got about a third of the way down, there was a fork in the trail - one way going green (for easy) and blue (for intermediate). i said to anne "we taken the green way down?" and she said "might as well take the blue since you've just been goin down a blue anyway." that's when i found out i was goin down a blue trail. now anne knows how to get me to do something....JUST DON'T TELL ME! hahah...annie, next time just don't say we're going down a blue when we're really going down a diamond, k? i need some preparation for that one. LOL....but alas, i've finally worked up to the point where i feel i am worthy of buying snowboard equipment. so happy!!!!! | | |
